ABOUT THE BOWYER
My father bought me a red fiberglass recurve and a couple of arrows when I was about 10 yrs. old. I wandered the hills of southern Illinois "hunting" ground squirrels and rabbits. Illinois didn't have much game back then but
I had a great time shooting my bow and being outdoors.
My love for the bow took a hiatus for years while I hunted with a rifle or handgun. Eventually, I came back to the bow and the excitement of the old outdoors began again. Today I have a great time shooting 3D tournaments and enjoy the comaraderie and competition.
I started out working a self bow before 1998 and after making a few I decided to give laminate longbow building a try. I was hooked after building the first one and as of now working off my fifth bow form and continue looking for ways of improvement. Laminated bows are about half the work time of a self bow and I like the higher performance.
Along the way several exceptional bowyer friends have helped me. They've given great advice and answered many questions I had. To them, I'm very grateful and appreciate them sharing their bow making knowledge and experiences.
